2010 Urban/Rural Analysis

This page contains maps and tables of the 2010 Urbanized Area (UZA) in relation to transit operator boundaries in Texas and for each UZA. There are two types of maps available: (1) UZA map showing the change of the urbanized area from 2000 to 2010 and (2) another map that shows transportation service providers in and around each urbanized area.

Regardless of which type, each map also contains several other elements of background information—such as city limits, roads, and area water features. The maps for each UZA have a related table with additional information about population and land area change in the urbanized area and by county.

The maps are in Adobe PDF documents. Due to the detailed information made available on each map, each PDF file is around 3 MB in size. Clicking on one of the files below will open the map or table in a new browser tab; you may view it this way or save the PDF to your computer.

Too much information on a map obscuring your view? No problem, you can pan, zoom-in, and zoom-out to see more or less detail; you can even use the navigation menu on the left (list of data layers) to check or uncheck layer names to turn on or off different layers of the map.

Note: In some cases the total land area for a county changed from 2000 to 2010. The difference is not an error. The tables included below use the official 2000 and 2010 US Census Bureau land area values. A change in the total land area reflects the Census’ refining measurements based on more recent and higher-quality geographic data. The most significant changes appear to be for counties with large bodies of water.
